The Baron d'Escalin vines grow at the foot of the Barony of Garde-Adhémar and to the north of the delightful village of Granges-Gontardes. Granges belonged to the Adhémar family since the 13th century. There were just a few farms that became "Granges-Gontardes" when Lord Adhémar of Monteil gave the fief to his vassal Gontard.
